STATEHOUSE (Aug. 29, 2024) – Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to State Reps. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) and J.D. Prescott (R-Union City).
Rowray said the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full time, Monday through Friday.
“Students with an interest in government or gaining professional work experience should consider applying for an internship,” Rowray said. “Interns in the past have truly enjoyed their time at the Statehouse while building a solid foundation for future careers.”
Prescott said internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns get free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.
"This is a great opportunity for students to build their resumes while gaining real-life work experience," Prescott said. "We know from past interns that this internship can be rewarding and helps jump start a future for many students out there today."
Interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
The program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy and communications.
