Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) in your coverage of House Concurrent Resolution 23 presented at the Indiana Statehouse today. Rowray co-authored the resolution honoring the Muncie Afghan Refugee Resettlement Committee for helping to resettle over 50 Afghan refugee families last year in Delaware County. MARRC relied on the volunteer work of churches, non-profit organizations and individuals to find the families jobs, receive medical attention and enroll in school:

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 16, 2022) – "For their safety and security, thousands of Afghan refugees had to flee their homes and navigate a new life in America. Most arrived in Indiana with nothing but the clothes they were wearing, and MARRC stepped in right away to help many families transition to Delaware County. The support, compassion and empathy from the volunteers with MARRC deserve to be recognized, especially as it sets a great example of what can be accomplished when we come together to do great things for others."
