STATEHOUSE (March 29, 2016) — State Rep. Rhonda Rhoads (R-Corydon) congratulates the Fessel family from Harrison County for their designation as a Hoosier Homestead award recipient for 100 years of family farm ownership.

“Indiana’s agriculture industry is a critical part of our economy, contributing more than $44 billion and supporting 190,000 jobs,” Rhoads said. “Owning a farm for more than a century is a significant investment in Hoosier agriculture and truly worthy of recognition.”

The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. The Fessel Farm has been in operation since 1880.

Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
