STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2024) – State Reps. Lorissa Sweet (R-Wabash) and Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Sweet will serve as a member of the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee, House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee and House Local Government Committee.
"This legislative session, we will be diving into a number of different topics to explore the best options for Hoosiers," Sweet said. "I'm excited to get back to work as I will continue to support our farmers and be a voice at the Statehouse for our most vulnerable."
Snow received an appointment as the vice chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, and will serve as a member of the House Insurance Committee.
"As the new vice chair of the Ways and Means Committee, we must be sensible about how we allocate the state's money," Snow said. "I will use my previous experience as a member of the committee to review upcoming legislation and work to improve the lives of Hoosiers."
Snow said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing public testimony and considering amendments.
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.
