STATEHOUSE (Jan. 7, 2026) – State Reps. Lorissa Sweet (R-Wabash) and Craig Snow (R-Winona Lake) said Hoosier students who are interested in learning more about state government are invited to participate in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session.
Sweet said pages can watch the legislative process in person, tour the historic Statehouse building and interact with their state representative. The full-day program is available for students who are 13 to 18 years old. Pages are permitted by Indiana law to receive a one-day excused absence from school for their participation.
"With the page program, young Hoosiers are able to see what happens during session and experience a day at the Statehouse," Sweet said. "Students are able to connect with state leaders to better understand how elected officials serve their constituents."
Snow said the program begins in January with opportunities every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until the end of the legislative session. Eligible students and their parents are encouraged to submit an application corresponding with the date they would like to page. Pages are scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on their chosen day, and groups serve together on Wednesdays. "The page program is valuable for those who are interested in current events, government and public service," Snow said. "Students are able to see how laws are made and how they can get involved in the legislative process."
Students are responsible for their own lunch and transportation to and from the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
