STATEHOUSE (May 1, 2023) – State Reps. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) and J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) recently welcomed local students to the Statehouse where they participated in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2023 legislative session.
As pages, the students assisted lawmakers and staff with daily duties, toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, and joined legislators on the House floor to witness and learn about the legislative process.
"I always enjoy having pages come to the Statehouse for the first time and getting the full tour," Rowray said. "Exploring it's rich history, watching session and meeting legislators is a unique experience, and I hope more local students join us next year."
These area students served as pages during the 2023 legislative session:
"Learning how the legislative process works firsthand can really deepen your appreciation for it," Prescott said. "Having students at the Statehouse and witnessing session is a great way for them to build on what they're learning in school."
Prescott said students ages 13 to 18 should consider participating during the 2024 legislative session.
