STATEHOUSE (Oct. 8, 2025) – Indiana House Republicans are seeking student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Reps. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) and Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty).
These paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates and students in graduate and law school. Pressel said the internship is an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
"From researching legislation to working with constituents and the media, this internship is a unique way to expose students to the many industries and professionals who interact at the Statehouse," Pressel said. "Students of any major will walk away from this internship with insight that can launch their careers."
Teshka said interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and concludes in March.
"As a former intern, I can attest to how valuable of a program this is for aspiring young leaders interested in serving their community," Teshka said. "Through the House internship, students will gain direct experience in the legislative process, learn in-depth about how policy impacts Hoosiers and build connections that can launch or grow a career."
Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
