STATEHOUSE (Jan. 19, 2016) – State Reps. Alan Morrison (R-Terre Haute) and Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) paired sneakers with their suits today at the Statehouse to help raise cancer awareness.

“It is estimated that two out of five people in Indiana will develop cancer,” Morrison said. “Suits and Sneakers Day is a great way to show my support for the many families that are affected by cancer. This is truly one of my favorite events at the statehouse, I couldn’t think of a better way to spread awareness than to lace up my sneakers.”

The Suits and Sneakers challenge is an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches, which included Indiana State University men’s basketball coach, Greg Lansing, to help raise cancer awareness and support those affected by the disease.

“This is a great opportunity for lawmakers to unite in the fight against cancer,” Borders said. “It’s important to increase awareness, encourage healthy lifestyles and support research efforts.”
