STATEHOUSE (Dec. 18, 2024) – State Reps. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) and Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Goss-Reaves was appointed as the vice chair of the House Insurance Committee. She will also serve as a member of the House Public Health Committee and the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee.
"Access to affordable and reliable insurance is critical for Indiana families and businesses," Goss-Reaves said. "As vice chair, I’ll work to ensure our policies promote a competitive market while protecting consumers."
Karickhoff was reappointed as Speaker Pro-Tempore. He will serve as a member of the House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee, House Joint Rules Committee, House Natural Resources Committee, House Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee, and the House Statutory Committee on Ethics.
"Committees are a great way for the public to voice their opinions about legislation," Karickhoff said. "This will be a busy session as we look to pass a responsible, balanced budget that supports hardworking Hoosiers and our state."
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.
