Note to the Press – State Reps. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) and Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) issued the following statements today in response to the State Budget Committee approving $3 million for the South Bend Sports Complex. The funds will be used to make improvements to the aging Byers Softball Complex to attract more tournaments and improve visitor experience. Updates will include refurbishing the press box, concession and restroom facilities. In addition, funding will be used to fully rebuild the main softball fields, install new sod and infield material, replace backstops and damaged fencing, replace damaged walkways and install vegetative screening. Additionally, improvements include the installation of a new splashpad and parking area, as well as rebuilding the parking lot and improving signage. During the 2023 legislative session, DeVon and Teshka voted in support of the state funding as part of the new two-year state budget. The State Budget Committee formally approved releasing the funds on Friday, along with funding several other projects across the state.

STATEHOUSE (April 19, 2024) – "It's great to see these significant upgrades planned for the Byers Softball Complex. These improvements will enhance the experience at the park for families and players alike. I look forward to the completion of these projects and can't wait to see everyone at the ballpark," said State Rep. Dale DeVon (R-Granger).

"We're fortunate to have this complex in our area and upgrades like this go a long way to improving the quality of life in our community. This state funding will ensure that these improvements are being made and I look forward to the economic impact it will bring to our area," said State Rep. Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty).
