STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2024) – State Reps. Kendell Culp (R-Rensselaer) and Jack Jordan (R-Bremen) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Culp was reappointed as vice chair of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, and will serve as a member of the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee and the House Elections and Apportionment Committee.
"House District 16 has the most diverse energy generation portfolio in Indiana," Culp said. "With so much discussion on energy, I am excited to continue the conversation to create effective solutions to growing concerns."
Jordan was reappointed as chair of the House Ways and Means Committee's Budget Subcommittee. He will also serve as a member on the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee and Government and Regulatory Reform Committee.
"This legislative session we'll work to keep Indiana fiscally responsible while helping Hoosiers save more of their paycheck," Jordan said. "I encourage constituents to make their voices heard by contacting my office with questions or comments, and following session online or at the Statehouse."
Jordan said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing public testimony and considering amendments.
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.
