STATEHOUSE (Dec. 13, 2024) – State Reps. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) and Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville) recently received appointments to serve on key House standing committees at the Statehouse.
House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms. Criswell will serve as a member of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, House Public Policy Committee, and the House Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.
"From public safety to economic development, these committees play a crucial role in shaping Indiana’s future," Criswell said. "I’m excited to work with fellow legislators and contribute input on my constituent's behalf, and look forward to the important work we will accomplish in the 2025 session."
Patterson will serve as a member of the House Environmental Affairs Committee, House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee, and the House Roads and Transportation Committee. Patterson said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing public testimony and considering amendments.
"Supporting Indiana and protecting Hoosiers is our focus throughout each committee," Patterson said. "I’m committed to working on policies that strengthen families, provide critical resources and ensure every individual has the opportunity to be successful throughout our state."
House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.
