STATEHOUSE (July 10, 2024) – State Reps. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) and Lindsay Patterson (R-Brookville) recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work together to identify solutions.

Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.

Patterson will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation, and the Interim Study Committee on Environmental Affairs.

"I look forward to serving on these committees and working with my colleagues on a number of issues, and I remain focused on finding ways we can continue to improve roads, especially in rural communities like ours," Patterson said. “Taking time in the summer and fall to study these topics helps us decide if new legislation should be presented during session.”

Criswell will serve as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation.

"Lawmakers work year-round to identify and address challenges affecting Hoosiers," Criswell said. "Summer study committees are just another aspect of the important work done throughout the year that allow us to take a closer look at issues, collaborate with policy experts and hear from the public. Our constituents expect and deserve results, which is why these committees are a great way to lay the groundwork for new legislation."
