STATEHOUSE (July 17, 2025) – State Reps. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) and Shane Lindauer (R-Jasper) recently received appointments to serve on interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues and work to identify solutions.
Legislators will hear testimony from the public, experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the next legislative session which begins in January.
Bartels will serve as vice chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs, vice chair of the Government Reform Task Force and as a member of the Integrated Public Safety Commission, Interim Study Committee on Public Policy and State Council for Interstate Adult and Juvenile Offender Supervision
"These committees play an important role in preparing for the next legislative session," Bartels said. "I look forward to bringing a commonsense perspective focused on streamlining operations, improving efficiency, eliminating redundant roles and strengthening support for public safety and military affairs.”
Lindauer will serve as a member of the Indiana White River State Park Development Commission and the Interim Study Committee on Roads and Transportation.
"Interim study committees give lawmakers the opportunity to take a closer look at issues affecting Hoosiers," Lindauer said. "The committees I've been appointed will look at how we can continue to improve Indiana's roadways and support public spaces like White River State Park. I'm committed to exploring solutions that benefit our state long-term."
