Brandon Schreiber. On Sept. 1, 2024, Cpl. Schreiber was wounded in pursuit of an armed suspect fleeing over the Illinois border and later succumbed to his injuries, giving his life in the line of duty. The resolution would rename the U.S. Route 41 bridge over the Kankakee River the "Corporal Brandon Schreiber Memorial Bridge" to serve as a testament to his service and legacy. House Concurrent Resolution 1 now heads to the Senate for consideration.
