STATEHOUSE (Oct. 8, 2026) – State Rep. Tim Yocum (R-Clinton) recently recognized Marcia and Dwayne Carpenter for more than 40 years of service supporting the Parke County 4-H Fair Bake Sale.

Yocum said Marcia and Dwayne started dating at the Parke County 4-H Fair in 1964 and have spent approximately 49 years volunteering at the annual event, supporting the bake sale and generations of local 4-H members.

The Carpenters started the bake sale in 1980, where they raised $35 the first year. The bake sale expanded year after year, raising more than $10,000 at the 2026 Parke County 4-H Fair. Proceeds from the bake sale benefit scholarships and improvements for Parke County 4-H members.

"Marcia and Dwayne have given an incredible amount of their time and energy to supporting young people in Parke County," Yocum said. "It's a privilege to recognize them for everything they've done to make this tradition successful year after year."
