STATEHOUSE — State Representative Jeff Thompson (R-Lizton) and State Senator Pete Miller (R-Brownsburg) recently joined school officials from Mill Creek Community School Corporation and Cascade Middle School to greet students and observe their one-to-one learning program called “Making Learning Irresistible.”
“Cascade Middle School is a pioneer in transforming the way students learn,” said Sen. Miller. “By combining technology with cutting-edge teaching strategies, Mill Creek Community School Corporation is a leader for other districts to follow.”
One-to-one computing programs allow teachers and students to utilize laptop computers or other devices in the classroom, linking technology to curriculum and instruction. Students at Cascade Middle School are assigned a Lenovo Chromebook at the beginning of the school year, using them to complete assignments and as a resource for classroom materials or information. Teachers also use them for instructional purposes as well as a way to increase opportunities for digital learning.
“I was honored to visit Cascade Middle School and observe the innovative learning experience these students are gaining through the one-to-one program,” said Rep. Thompson. “By incorporating digital devices into classroom instruction, teachers are able to more effectively share tools and resources with their students while providing them with the skills necessary to compete as part of a globally dynamic workforce.”
Eric Sieferman, the Principal of Cascade Middle School, was present for the tour along with Jim Diagostino, the Superintendent of Mill Creek Community School Corporation.
