STATEHOUSE- State Representative Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon) was named Legislator of the year by the Indiana Farm Bureau. The award was presented to him at Indiana Farm Bureau’s Legislative luncheon for his support of Senate Enrolled Act (SEA) 101, Agricultural Operations and Criminal Trespass, during the 2014 legislative session. The legislation went through the House Judiciary Committee, which Rep. Steuerwald Chairs.
“I am truly humbled to be recognized as Indiana Farm Bureau’s Legislator of the Year,” said Rep. Steuerwald. “Farmers work tirelessly to feed countless Hoosier families, and I was proud to assist them last session through legislation that protects their property.”
SEA 101 adds provisions to existing criminal mischief and trespass statutes to include causing property damage to agricultural operations or trespassing on agricultural land used for production that may cause damage.
“Through this legislation, my goal was to better protect the privacy and property of Hoosier farmers,” said Rep. Steuerwald. “I look forward to continuing to work with the agricultural community this session and in the future.
The Indiana Farm Bureau is an agricultural advocate group that works to provide opportunities and information Indiana’s farmers.
