STATEHOUSE — State Representative Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) was recently appointed to the Council of State Government’s (CSGs) Transportation Public Policy Committee. The committee provides a forum for multi-state leaders to address state and national transportation and infrastructure concerns.
“What a tremendous opportunity it is to be a part of a multi-state transportation and infrastructure policy discussion,” said Rep. Soliday. “With a vast array of policies affecting these critical issues, it is important to review what we are doing, in light of what other states are doing, and strive to optimize solutions for our state infrastructure.”
Meeting at least once a year, CSG’s Transportation Public Policy Committee focuses on innovative ideas, solutions to problems and discusses emerging trends surrounding the transportation and infrastructure industries. Additionally, they consider viable policy positions and response projects that were recently proposed by lawmakers affecting these industries.
Collaborating with the public and private sector members, the meetings are designed to provide a nationwide platform to encourage critical thinking about solutions addressing our nation’s transportation infrastructure system. Committee members are able to introduce and consider policy resolutions during the meetings as well.
The main priorities of the committee are set by the CSG’s national leadership council that receives input from the committee members. Some recent issues the committee has considered include: Future Federal Transportation Funding, New State Revenues for Transportation and New State Revenues for Transportation.

Soliday. “The Transportation Public Policy Committee has championed excellent policies in the past, and by hearing public input and working with leaders in these industries, I am very appreciative of this opportunity to benefit our state as well as the nation.”
