STATEHOUSE-Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) has been named to two interim study committees that will make policy recommendations to the Indiana General Assembly when it reconvenes in January. Rep. Soliday has been assigned to the Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs and the Regulatory Flexibility Committee.
The Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs is charged with studying: state contracting with disabled veterans.
The Regulatory Flexibility Committee will study the following, among other topics:
The use of cloud computing technology and the safety and protection of information generated by state agencies
Additional public or private funding sources for the '211' service
Funding inequities for consolidated public safety
"These committees give us a chance to get a head start on some of the issues that may arise during session," said Rep. Soliday. "The interim is a great time to examine issues in great detail. It's my hope that we're able to come to some solid conclusions about the direction the state should be headed on these topics and present those ideas to the General Assembly in January."
During hearings the committees will take public testimony and hold open discussions on assigned issues. Some topics will be assigned as a result of legislation passed during previous legislative sessions.
