STATEHOUSE- House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments today for the 119th General Assembly.  Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Rep. Ed Soliday (R-Valparaiso) has been appointed Chairman of the Roads and Transportation Committee. He has also been selected to serve as a member of the following committees: Elections and Apportionment, Rules and Legislative Procedures, Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications and Veterans Affairs and Public Safety.

“It is honor to serve as Chairman of the Roads and Transportation Committee. I look forward to working with my colleagues, local leaders and Hoosiers alike to find viable solutions that sustain and improve Indiana’s roads, highways and bridges for future generations,” said Rep. Soliday.

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know they are all eager to begin their work,” said Speaker Bosma.

The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30 pm.
