STATEHOUSE – State Representative Rhonda Rhoads (R–Corydon) encourages college students and recent graduates to apply for the 2015 Indiana Legislative Session Internship with the Indiana House of Representatives.
“The House Intern Program is an exciting opportunity for young professionals to learn invaluable skills, become immersed in the legislative process and develop lasting connections,” said Rep. Rhoads. “I strongly encourage interested and eligible students to apply for this internship.”
This paid internship gives college students and recent graduates the opportunity to be a part of Indiana’s legislative process by working directly with state representatives. Those interested in the program can apply for the following departments: Member Services, Communications, Information Technology, Policy and Ways and Means. Depending on the department, interns can gain experience writing press releases, handling constituent work or conducting research for the policy department to list a few.
The House Republican Intern Program takes place at the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. The program is open to college students (sophomores and up), recent graduates and graduate students. It is recommended to those who would like to gain professional experience as well as learn more about the legislative process.
“As a legislator, I try to engage as much as possible with my interns during session,” said Rep. Rhoads. “We want them to finish the internship with a full understanding of how state government functions, knowing their hard work has made a difference in the process.”
