STATEHOUSE (Dec. 13, 2024) – State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) recently received appointments to serve as a member of two key House committees.

Prescott will serve as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, House Elections and Apportionment Committee, and the House Judiciary Committee. Prescott said committees are responsible for vetting bills, including hearing public testimony and considering amendments.

"I'm honored to serve on these important committees and look forward to working with my colleagues to address the critical issues facing our state," Prescott said. "Committee work is the foundation of the legislative process, and I'm eager to work on policies that will benefit Indiana."

House standing committee appointments are made by the Indiana House Speaker biennially after the November election and are in effect for the duration of members' two-year terms.

House lawmakers are scheduled to convene at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 for the first day of the 2025 legislative session. Hoosiers can visit iga.in.gov to find legislation, view calendars, and watch committee meetings and session.

Prescott encourages constituents to visit in.gov/h33 to sign up to receive e-newsletter updates about what’s happening at the Statehouse throughout the legislative session and beyond.
