STATEHOUSE (March 2, 2020) – Jay County High School graduate Alex Clark is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session.
Clark, a Portland native, is the son of Richard and Ramona Clark. He graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
“Interning with the Indiana House of Representatives has taught me how to work in a team, think creatively and time manage” Clark said. “This experience has shown me the importance and efficiency of state government. Our state is fortunate to have such a productive legislative body.”
As a legislative intern, Clark corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails, while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
“Alex is setting himself up for success by gaining valuable work experience and learning new skills,” Prescott said. “House interns work directly with state lawmakers and get to be part of a great program. They have the opportunity to introduce themselves to state officials and meet potential employers from all kinds of industries.”
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
