STATEHOUSE (Oct. 29, 2025) – State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) recently joined Gov. Mike Braun, State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) and local officials for a visit to the Indiana Fire and Public Safety Academy's Hartford City hub. He met with local firefighters and academy staff to learn more about new training opportunities.

Prescott said the Hartford City hub is one of several new regional training facilities being developed across Indiana to better serve Hoosier firefighters and first responders.

"I enjoyed my time meeting with local firefighters while touring a crucial training site," Prescott said. "These locations provide accessibility to necessary resources for our rural departments. I appreciate the time these men and women took to demonstrate the importance of fire training."

During his visit, Prescott toured the facility and observed live fire demonstrations conducted by the Hartford City Fire Department and surrounding county fire departments. Prescott said the event highlighted the importance of these upgrades in fire training.

The Indiana Fire and Public Safety Academy's hubs are designed to provide firefighters statewide with high quality instruction and skill development opportunities closer to home.
