Rep. Prescott issues statement on redistricting

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 19, 2025) – "I want to make clear that I support strong national leadership and efforts to ensure Indiana is positioned to work effectively with the Trump administration. I believe this redistricting effort is an important step as our nation prepares for the years ahead. That begins with maps that reflect where Hoosiers stand and give our state a meaningful voice in Washington as major decisions are made.

“I was initially a no because I did not like the precedent it would set to redraw maps mid-cycle. However, once multiple states moved ahead and changed their maps, the political rules of engagement shifted. Given that, it's important for Indiana to not sit idly by while other states reshape representation and influence. After review, it became clear that moving forward is the responsible choice to protect our state’s standing on the national stage.

"This effort is about the future of our country. If we want to protect our republic and make sure our national government reflects the direction our communities want, we need to get this done. Indiana must be part of that work, so our state's voice remains strong and effective in the U.S. Capitol," said State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City).
