HOUSE DISTRICT 33 (Oct. 15, 2024) – State Rep. J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) recently hosted a listening tour to hear from local business owners, leaders and constituents in House District 33.
"As a state representative, it's important that I stay connected with the people I serve," Prescott said. "These visits allow for me to see the real impact of our state policies and hear from constituents directly. I'm proud to serve this district and will always make time for important conversations."
Prescott began in Union City at the city's fire department, where he met with Tim Crawford and Dusty Brunner, local firefighters/paramedics, and toured the facility. Prescott said the tour provided valuable insights on the department’s operations and highlighted the importance of supporting emergency services in the region.
The visit continued with Prescott gaining a closer look at the 410,000 square-foot Workhorse manufacturing facility. Workhorse is a technology company focused on providing high-performance drone-integrated, battery-electric vehicles including trucks and aircraft. He met with senior management, along with other team members, to discuss the company's status and plans for production, as well as possible partnerships.
Prescott also explored Randolph County's 4-H building, learning about the variety of events, workshops and development programs they offer. He went on to the Art Depot of Randolph County, an association that provides the community with exhibits, workshops, events and youth activities.
Prescott proceeded to the John Jay Learning Center, located in Portland, and met with Rusty Inman, executive director and CEO. He received a tour of the building and was introduced to several learning areas, tech centers and the SkillsTrac Industrial Automation lab.
"The businesses and organizations in our area are really doing incredible work and it's great hear from them on how I can help them on the state level," Prescott said. "The legislative session begins in January, and I encourage constituents to continue reaching out to me if they have ideas for legislation or need help navigating state government."
The tour wrapped up in the city of Winchester where Prescott met with Mayor Bob McCoy to discuss updates on local plans, address citizen concerns and strategize community improvements. They also toured Winchester Speedway, the world's fastest half mile paved track. Some of racing's biggest stars, including INDYCAR and NASCAR champions Kyle Busch, Jeff Gorden and Rusty Wallace, have been featured and competed at the park.
