STATEHOUSE (April 5, 2022) – Charlestown High School student Ruby Whiteford recently joined lawmakers at the Statehouse where she participated in the Indiana House Page Program.

According to State Rep. Zach Payne (R-Charlestown), Whiteford, who is pictured with State Rep. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty), toured offices of all branches of government in the Statehouse, helped staff with daily responsibilities and joined lawmakers on the House floor to witness the legislative process. The page program operates during the legislative session, which wrapped up on March 9.

“The House Page Program is a great opportunity for students to spend the day at the Statehouse, interact with their local leaders and see government in action," Payne said. "It's encouraging to see young Hoosiers learn more about how legislation impacts their lives at home. I hope to see more students get civically engaged and consider paging next session."

Payne said students between the ages of 13 and 18 should consider participating during the 2023 session.
