STATEHOUSE (Feb. 26, 2024) – Porter County native Isabel Blaney is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) and her fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2024 legislative session.
Blaney, a Valparaiso High School graduate, is the daughter of Ken and Laura Blaney. She is currently a junior at Hope College, and majoring in communications and studio art.
"I have been learning so much during my time in the Statehouse," Blaney said. "This internship was a huge step for me in so many ways and I can’t wait to see what my future brings."
As a communications intern, Blaney helps write news releases, prepare handouts for legislators and create email newsletters for constituents.
"Isabel is a very hard worker and continues to be a big help this session,” Olthoff said. "This experience is a great way to explore new careers and have a behind-the-scenes look at the legislative process. I encourage eligible students interested in our intern program to apply."
At the start of each year, the Indiana House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the legislative session.
