STATEHOUSE (March 10, 2026) – Legislation sponsored by State Rep. Julie Olthoff (R-Crown Point) asking the Indiana State Department of Agriculture to study the feasibility of establishing community or urban micro-farm zones statewide was signed into law.
"Farming is one of Indiana's top industries and we are always looking for ways to innovate," Olthoff said. "This legislation gives ISDA the opportunity to explore the benefits and drawbacks to micro-farming, which could give Hoosiers even greater access to fresh foods."
Olthoff said through Senate Enrolled Act 164, ISDA will submit its report on micro-farming, including recommendations, to the General Assembly by Dec. 1, 2027.
