STATEHOUSE (May 4, 2026) – State Rep. Tim O'Brien (R-Evansville) said the Evansville Region is experiencing high-performing economic success, according to new findings released by the Purdue Center for Regional Development.
The Evansville Region leads all other Indiana regions in GDP growth and worker productivity, per the report. O'Brien said these successes indicate a strong workforce, business growth and an evolution toward more high-paying jobs in the region.
"We’re seeing firsthand how the region’s workforce and infrastructure support expansion. That’s why companies are choosing to invest here," O'Brien said. "These findings show that the Evansville Region's business-friendly environment is translating into stronger growth and better opportunities for residents."
In addition to leading Indiana in worker productivity and GDP growth, the report also notes continued expansion in micro and small business establishments, reflecting strong local ownership and investment in the region. Occupational mix continues to shift as well, with positive worker growth in both blue- and white-collar occupation.
"Evansville is quickly becoming one of Indiana's most productive and fastest growing regional economies thanks to years of targeted investments, from education and workforce development to supporting infrastructure expansion," O'Brien said. "That progress is being driven by a strong workforce, expanding business base and industries that support long-term economic growth."
