STATEHOUSE – “Today, the Senate presented their version of Indiana’s biennial budget, which now will be further debated and discussed. In the Senate proposal, they have offered a way for IPFW to receive more funding, which creates a stronger mission and encourages more opportunities for students.
“This session, I authored legislation, House Bill 1627, which would have required the Commission for Higher Education to designate IPFW as a metropolitan campus. This change could have generated more funding and allowed the campus to offer additional degrees and opportunities for students. I am pleased to see the Senate’s approach to this change in their version of the budget; IPFW deserves all the recognition and support we can give.
“As a resident of Fort Wayne, and a strong supporter of IPFW, I was pleased to see they are receiving much needed funding, which will ensure they are continuing to offer the best education in northeastern Indiana. IPFW is a shining star in our community and giving them additional funds will work to offer more degrees to more students, creating a stronger workforce in Indiana. I am pleased to see IPFW has been given the recognition it deserves, and I will continue to advocate for their success during the budget process.”
