STATEHOUSE – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.
State Representative Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) was appointed to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee. He was also appointed to serve on Employment, Labor and Pensions and Roads and Transportation committees.
“I am excited to serve as Vice Chair of the Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee as well as in my other committees,” said Rep. Morris. “Small businesses are the backbone of the economy. After working with job creators all across Indiana, especially the Fort Wayne area, I look forward to creating the best environment that allows them to thrive and grow.”
Standing committees are considered the workhorse of the institution, as they are vital to the success of the legislative process. Committees receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard the House floor.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know they are all eager to begin their work,” said Speaker Bosma.
The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30pm.
