STATEHOUSE – State Representative Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) was named Legislator of the Year by the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana for his work in making IPFW a metropolitan campus.

“I am honored to receive this title from the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana,” said Rep. Morris. “This session, one of my main priorities was to make IPFW a metropolitan university, and with this new status, they will be able to receive additional funding which will go a long way to benefit our students, faculty and community as a whole.”

Rep. Morris authored legislation, which was later adopted in the state’s biennial budget, which establishes IPFW a metropolitan campus. With this new status, the university was able to obtain additional funding which could go towards more on-campus housing, increase graduate opportunities or expand research programs to list a few.

“I feel privileged to live in a community that houses one of the best universities in the state, and I was proud to support it this session,” said Rep. Morris. “Moving forward, I will continue to advocate for IPFW and the Fort Wayne area throughout the interim.”
