STATEHOUSE- State Rep. Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) is commending Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) for the great job they are doing in keeping our roadways safe and clear this winter.

"As I was driving home yesterday from the Statehouse to Ft. Wayne, I was very impressed by how easy my commute was and that is due to the hard work of the INDOT snow team," said Rep. Morris. "I know it has been a lot of long nights and early morning, and I want them to know they are appreciated."

INDOT covers interstates and highways; this means that they clear all Federal and State roads.  The INDOT team prepared this winter by ensuring that salt barns were full and plow trucks were ready to hit the roads.

"We are really seeing their efforts pay off," stated Rep. Morris.  "This winter has proven to be a treacherous one and thanks to the preparation of the INDOT team, we have been able to travel about in a safe manner."

The Indiana Department of Transportation snow removal trucks have been equipped with a satellite communication system, which improves the effectiveness of Indy snow removal. The software tells a truck when it needs to be dispatched, when it needs to return and how much salt it needs to put down to make our roads safe. This software gives the INDOT team real-time information on weather.

"Unfortunately, bad weather comes on holidays, nights and weekends, hence our dedicated INDOT winter team works long, hard hours away from their families to guarantee our roads safe for travel," said Rep, Morris.
