STATEHOUSE – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. State Representative Bob Morris (R-Fort Wayne) was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Commerce, Small Business & Economic Development Committee. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.

“I am thankful to be appointed as Vice Chairman of the Commerce, Small Business & Economic Development Committee,” said Rep. Morris. “In this role, I will closely examine every piece of legislation assigned to the committee and look forward to working with my colleagues to grow Indiana’s business climate through more economic development opportunities.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the economy, so we need to do everything we can to help them thrive and grow this upcoming session,” said Rep. Morris. “We pledged to move Indiana forward but that requires cutting red tape and removing burdensome regulations, which will help our free market system flourish.”
