STATEHOUSE – House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.

State Representative Wendy McNamara (R-Mount Vernon) has been reappointed Vice Chair of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee. She will also serve on the following committees:

  • Government and Regulatory Reform
  • Judiciary
  • Select Committee on Government Reduction

“I am honored to be reappointed as Vice Chair of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee,” said Rep. McNamara. “A main focus this year will be to address some of the public safety concerns, like domestic violence, impacting our community and state, so I look forward to working with my colleagues and building on the progress we made last year to further safeguard Hoosier families.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I firmly believe that committees are the workhorses of the institution,” said Speaker Bosma. “I look forward to being a part of a new generation of leaders as they shepherd important bills through our legislative process.”

The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 1:30pm.
