STATEHOUSE (July 10, 2024) – State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville) recently received an appointment to serve as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Corrections and Criminal Code.

Interim committees meet throughout the summer and fall to explore and review policy issues and work together to identify solutions. Legislators will hear testimony from the public, various experts and stakeholders as they work on bill recommendations ahead of the budget session in January.

"Regarding our laws and corrections system, we will review present trends in criminal behavior, sentencing, incarceration and treatment," McNamara said. "Feedback from the public and experts is crucial in order for the legislature to identify challenges and offer solutions next session."

McNamara will also serve as a member of the Justice Reinvestment Advisory Council and the Board of Trustees of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.
