STATEHOUSE – Speaker Brian C. Bosma announced today the appointment of State Representative Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) as the newest member of the House Ways and Means Committee.

“I am honored to be appointed by Speaker Bosma to serve on the House Ways and Means Committee,” said Rep. Mayfield. “Because of the increased time commitment necessary to fulfill these new duties, I will still be serving on the Judiciary Committee but will be relinquishing my post on the Insurance and Elections and Apportionment committees.”

The Ways and Means Committee is a standing committee that makes recommendations to the Indiana General Assembly on any legislation dealing with the expenditure of money. Ways and Means also drafts the biannual Indiana budget which outlines how money will be allocated for the two upcoming fiscal years.

“It was not an easy decision to leave two of my committees, but I am excited by this new opportunity,” said Rep. Mayfield. “Ways and Means is such an important part of our state Legislature, and this will provide yet another way for me to serve the people of District 60 and the state of Indiana.”
