STATEHOUSE (Jan. 4, 2018) — Applications are open for students interested in participating in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2018 legislative session, according to State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville).
Pages have an opportunity to join Mayfield during the legislative session and tour the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers.
“Being in the state capitol while legislation is being debated is a unique learning opportunity,” Mayfield said. “I encourage all students to participate in the page program and experience how lawmakers work on issues that impact our community and state.”
To be a page, applicants should be between the ages of 13 and 18. Mayfield said student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can sign up to participate together.
The 2018 legislative session began Wednesday, Jan. 3, and must conclude by March 14. Mayfield said page positions fill quickly and encouraged participants to apply early online at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram or by calling 800-382-9841.
