STATEHOUSE (April 25, 2025) – Washington County native Chloey Sabens gained experience as an intern with State Rep. Chris May (R-Bedford) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2025 legislative session.

Sabens, a Salem High School graduate, is the daughter of Stephanie and Steve Sabens. She graduated this past December from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, earning a bachelor's degree in food science and nutrition.

"I've enjoyed the opportunities I've been given through this internship to connect with many people at the Statehouse while doing rewarding work that makes an impact," Sabens said.

As a legislative intern, Sabens corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.

"The Statehouse internship program is a great way to network and gain real, professional experience," May said. "Legislative interns like Chloey are incredibly helpful to both members and constituents and will no doubt benefit her in the future."

At the start of each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of the annual legislative session.
