STATEHOUSE (Feb. 12, 2018) — A Seymour High School graduate is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) and his fellow members of the House of Representatives during the 2018 legislative session.
Samantha Shell, a resident of Seymour, is the daughter of Craig and Tina Collins. She is an Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus graduate who earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
“This opportunity opens so many doors for interns,” Lucas said. “They get to experience the legislative process as well as make professional connections with other interns, staff and legislators. I encourage students from our area to take advantage of this opportunity to learn more and get involved in our state government.”
As a legislative intern, Shell corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.

State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) represents House District 69, which includes
