STATEHOUSE (Feb. 22, 2016) — State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) welcomes Seymour resident, Samantha Shell, to the Statehouse where she is interning with the House of Representatives during the 2016 legislative session.

Shell is the daughter of Craig and Tina Collins. A 2012 Seymour High School graduate, Shell currently attends Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus where she is majoring in business with concentrations in marketing and management.

As an intern in the House Majority Communications Office, Shell helps write press releases, create legislative handouts and set up press conferences.

“I have learned a lot as a communications intern at the Statehouse,” Shell said. “This has been an amazing opportunity, and I have enjoyed working with Representative Jim Lucas, as well as the other legislators. This internship has allowed me to gain a better understanding of how state government works, while also providing real-world work experience that will benefit me as I advance my career.”

The House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
