STATEHOUSE (Dec. 29, 2017) — Applications are open for students interested in participating in the Indiana House Page Program during the 2018 legislative session, according to State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour).
Pages have an opportunity to join Lucas during the legislative session and tour the governor’s office, the Indiana Supreme Court, and the House and Senate chambers.
“In addition to viewing the lawmaking process in-person on the House floor, Students can assist my staff with daily tasks and errands,” Lucas said. “This opportunity is a great way for young Hoosiers to learn more about their state legislature. I encourage interested students to apply.”
To be a page, applicants should be between the ages of 13 and 18. Lucas said student pages receive an excused absence from school and groups can sign up to participate together.
The 2018 legislative session begins Wednesday, Jan. 3, and must conclude by March 14. Lucas said page positions fill quickly and encouraged participants to apply early online at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/page-program or by calling 800-382-9841.
State Rep. Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) represents House District 69, which includes
portions of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings and Jefferson counties.
