STATEHOUSE — State Representative Jim Lucas (R-Seymour) was appointed to serve as Vice Chairman of the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee by House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis). The Speaker of the House appoints committee chairmen biennially, following each election of the General Assembly.
“I consider it a great privilege to be appointed to serve as Vice Chairman of the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee,” said Rep. Lucas. “In this unique role, I will have the opportunity to help shape policies aimed at improving the efficiency of state government.”
Considered the “workhorse of the institution”, standing committees are vital to the success of the legislative process. Committees receive public testimony and deliberate proposed legislation before determining whether or not to advance it to the House floor.
“We worked hard last session to reduce the size and scope of government, making it operate more efficiently, and I look forward to continuing that effort by decreasing unnecessary regulatory burdens this year,” said Rep. Lucas. “By working with my colleagues to improve how government operates, I will help foster the best environment for Hoosiers to live, work and raise a family.”
Rep. Lucas (R-Seymour) represents portions of Bartholomew, Jackson, Jennings and Jefferson counties.
