STATEHOUSE (July 20, 2022) – State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) recently received an appointment to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance.
State legislators serve on interim committees throughout the summer and fall, and examine top policy issues, gather public input and recommend legislation for the regular session beginning in January.
"In this committee, we are going to take a close look at the increasing market concentration of the health care industry, from insurance providers to pharmacies," Lehman. "These trends effect the cost and quality of health care, so we are going to take a deep dive as part of our overall goal of lowering out-of-control costs."
Lehman will also co-chair the Legislative Continuity Committee, and chair the Legislative Council's Audit and Financial Reporting Subcommittee and the Oral History Project Advisory Committee. He will serve as a member of the Legislative Council, Indiana Semiquincentennial Commission and Legislative State of Emergency Advisory Group.
According to Lehman, members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
