STATEHOUSE (Feb. 23, 2022) – Columbus North High School graduate Keith Wilson is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Ryan Lauer (R-Columbus) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2022 legislative session.
Wilson, a Columbus native, is the son of Brian and Donna Wilson. He is a graduate of Ball State University and earned a bachelor's degree in telecommunications.
"I applied for this internship because I wanted to improve my video and editing skills, and now I'm leaving with a stronger portfolio," Wilson said. "I got to film different representatives talk about their legislation, which gave me a unique behind-the-scenes look at how our state government actually works. I am grateful for the opportunity and have a much greater appreciation of all the work that goes on at the Statehouse."
As a communications intern, Wilson helps conduct interviews with his representatives, video record special events, as well as put together e-newsletters and press releases.
"I'm always thankful for the work that our hardworking interns like Keith do for us during session," Lauer said. "This internship is an invaluable experience that helps interns grow their professional network, learn new skills and gain valuable experience that can provide a competitive advantage as they start their careers.”
Each year, the Indiana House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
