STATEHOUSE (March 2, 2020) – Columbus East High School graduate Hannah Gregory is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Ryan Lauer (R-Columbus) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session.
Gregory is the daughter of Don and Ann Gregory. She graduated from Hanover College with a bachelor’s degree in political science.
“Being a legislative intern has shown me the importance of state government,” Gregory said. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to work for our state representatives. I am fortunate to live in a state that allows students and recent graduates to contribute to the legislative process.”
As a legislative intern, Gregory corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and emails, while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
“Hannah is learning a lot about the legislative process and getting opportunities to be involved in our state government,” Lauer said. “Interns can build their professional network, learn new skills and gain valuable experience that can lead to a competitive advantage in their careers.”
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
