STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) has announced committee chairmen and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election.

State Rep. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) has been reappointed to serve as the Assistant Majority Caucus Chairman and will continue to serve as Chairman of the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee.  The Assistant Caucus Chairman serves as an advisor to the Speaker and in a variety of roles including caucus management and development of legislative priorities.

“Eric has been an exemplary leader in our Caucus. I have every confidence that he will serve to his fullest potential in his appointed leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma. ““I firmly believe that committees are the workhorses of the institution. I look forward to being a part of a new generation of leaders as they shepherd important bills through our legislative process.”

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.

“I appreciate the trust and responsibility I have been given by the Speaker to serve the House and the people of Indiana in these positions,” said Rep. Koch.

Rep. Koch serves House District 65, which includes all of Brown County, most of Lawrence County and parts of Monroe, Jackson and Johnson Counties.
