Rep. Karickhoff nominated to attend Fiscal Leaders Seminar

STATEHOUSE – State Representative Mike Karickhoff (R-Kokomo) attended the National Conference for State Legislators Fiscal Leaders Seminar. He was nominated by Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) for his experience as the Budget Subcommittee Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

“I appreciated the opportunity to attend the Fiscal Leaders Seminar,” said Rep. Karickhoff. “This experience allowed me to delve further into the current fiscal issues while learning about new federal laws that will impact state budgets across the country.”

House and Senate leaders from every state were asked to nominate fiscal chairs and leaders to attend the program. The seminar is designed to provide state legislators with information that helps them assess state fiscal challenges with sessions that discuss economic outlook, federal budget and tax changes, state budget examples and more.

“Being able to hear first-hand from state lawmakers allows each attendee to see what methods work for different states,” said Rep. Karickhoff. “Seeing which innovative practices have worked in other places provides a unique perspective on how Indiana is excelling with our budget process. The goal is to apply the knowledge gained here during the upcoming session and improving Indiana for all Hoosiers.”
